How Facebook Killed Thousands of Motorcycle Injury Cases

Remember the ‘Ice Bucket Challenge?’ It was for ALS awareness. Your Facebook friend would challenge you to do it. You had to video tape yourself dumping a huge bucket of ice and water over your head, then post it on Facebook.

Some folks that posted a video had personal injury cases pending. The defense attorneys or insurance adjusters on those cases used those videos to show the victims were not as injured as they claimed. 

These types of social media posts can be especially harmful to Michigan motorcycle and auto accident victims. The reason being, in Michigan, we have to prove that your life was significantly affected because of your injuries from the crash.

So, defense attorneys and insurance companies use posts that depict activities to try to show your life has not been affected much. If they are successful, your case can be thrown out of court, and you get nothing. So, as many say, be careful of what you put online!
