The Michigan Traffic Enforcement Training Conference took place last week from Monday-Wednesday with our very own Debbie Parinello speaking on Tuesday regarding Motorcycle crash scene management.

Debbie is a licensed paramedic in Michigan and has been teaching both beginner and advanced Bystander Assistance Courses to Michigan motorcyclists to provide them with the skills required to help fellow riders in the event of an accident.

The conference is held for officers to provide them with up-to-date techniques and information that they can utilize on their everyday patrols. Topics covered included Conducting Complete Traffic Stops, Prosecuting a Drugged Driver, Traffic Risks and Officer Safety, and many more.

Debbie's focus was on demonstrating the appropriate EMS trauma on a motorcyclist at the scene of an accident. Motorcyclists can sustain very different injuries than a motorist which is why it's crucial for those responding to understand and follow the correct techniques to best help those injured.

The courses Debbie teaches are through the Accident Scene Management, Inc. (ASMI) and teach riders how to respond and attend to an injured motorcyclist. The next session of our courses will start around January for the spring, so stay tuned and check back here for dates!
