Motorcycle Accident Summit

The National Trial Lawyers organization, in March of 2024, put on a national seminar for personal injuries lawyers. It took place in Savannah, Georgia and I was invited to speak at it. They asked me to teach other attorneys some of the deposition techniques I’ve developed over the past 30 years specific for motorcycle injury and wrongful death cases. The seminar had hundreds of lawyers, motorcycle influencers, motorcycle and legal experts and all kind of vendors.
One of my favorite parts of the seminar was when a technician performed a demonstration of a wearable airbag vest for motorcyclists. It was manufactured by Alpinestars and is tailored for riding. He had a lawyer wear the vest on stage. The technician held the remote ignition device and described the explosive charge within the vest. The audience’s anticipation grew and grew… finally the count down: three, two, one BAM! Women screamed then a lot of nervous and relief laughter from the crowd.
Alpinestars was established in 1963 and for the past 20 years have developed the innovation of airbag technology specifically for riding. There are multiple options available for purchase and only recently, in my opinion, they are somewhat affordable—about $750. Here are some examples:
Tech-Air 10: An airbag suit designed to protect riders whose goal is to ride fast. This suit is a slim wearable Airbag system. It covers the rider’s shoulders, chest, back, and hips. The built in lithium battery has a life span of 24 hours. It is designed for track and road use and can be used for race and street riding modes. Tech-Air10 provides the most coverage for riders.
Tech-Air Race: Designed for full upper body protection for track day and performance riders. Once fully inflated, it protects the back, kidneys, chest and shoulders. The battery lasts 25 hours when fully charged. The firmware offers a street setting for non-racing use in the road.
Adam Sandoval was there, too. Adam is a world record motorcyclist, philanthropist, YouTuber and social media influencer. He gave the attendees tips on using social media with motorcyclists and encouraged us all to be philanthropic toward the motorcycle community. Sandoval’s personal philanthropic work is inspiring. In 2014 he created the ScootinAmerica a two yea trip to raise money for the US military. He visited every Harley-Davidson dealership in the lower 48 states. He rode cross-country six times and logged over 80,000 miles, visited almost 700 Harley-Davidson dealers while raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for our nation’s heroes.
