Ducati is Coming to Birmingham

Currently Michigan only has two dealerships that sell Ducati motorcycles (not exclusively) in Kalamazoo and Clinton Township. That's about to change as Daniel Cable sets his sights on opening an exclusive Ducati dealership in downtown Birmingham.

This past Monday Cable meet before the Birmingham City Commission to request to sell what is known as the “Ferrari” of motorcycles, Ducatis, in Birmingham. The request was approved with a 7-0 vote.  Cable, currently the owner of DJC Motor, Ltd. in Rochester hills and former owner of Cauley Ferrari in West Bloomfield, believes that the Ducati dealership “is a great fit for downtown Birmingham. Because of the upscale Italian image, and low volume exclusivity, it fits into the ‘boutique' type image that makes Birmingham the destination that it is. Ducati is a powerful brand,” (Ducati Motorcycle Dealership Coming to Birmingham, Laura Houser, Patch.com, http://birmingham.patch.com/articles/ducati-motorcycles-coming-to-birmingham).

The dealership would feature a 3,200 square-foot showroom along with service in the back of the building. There are no works for outdoor storage. Cable anticipates to sell around 100-150 bikes a year. The brand itself only manufactures a small amount each year, starting at $10,000 and going upwards of $75,000.  The luxury brand shows promise to Cable as the company within the past three years has grown by 48%, (Ducati Motorcycle Dealership Coming to Birmingham, Laura Houser, Patch.com).

The only wait now is getting the final approval from Ducati North America. With these plans in the works it won't be long before we see several motorcyclists out on Old Woodward test riding new Ducatis.
